Pecel Madiun

Hi, what’s up good people? I hope you are all doing well. Are you craving for some more Indonesian food? Here I am going to share a recipe to an Indonesian comfort food called Pecel Madiun. As its name implies, this food has roots from a city in Eastern Java, Madiun. This is the pecel I made with the ingredients available in Japan:

Looks quite appetizing right? Then let’s get down to business!

Pecel Madiun Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Spinach (1 package can give you around 3 portions of pecel)

  • Beansprouts (same as spinach)

  • Long beans

  • Fried tofu

  • Egg

  • Rice

  • Instant pecel sauce (try buying in Indonesian stores, or make it yourself.

  • Water

Steps:

  1. Cut up all the vegetables and the tofu.

  2. Boil the vegetables until they become soft

  3. Fry an egg both sides, and fry the tofu again for extra crispiness!

  4. Dissolve the instant peanut sauce. The fun thing is, everyone has their own preference in how thick they want the sauce to be. Try experimenting with different amount of water!

  5. Put all of them together! Cooked rice, topped with boiled vegetables, tofu, and egg, and pour in the peanut sauce.

  6. Enjoy!

That is it for this time! This is a very creative recipe that you can adjust the amount of everything according to your tastes. Leave a comment down below if you’ve tried pecel before or want to try this recipe! See you again in the next NiceNiceNasigoreng post..
